I was stationed on the Social Team where our impact was to engage users through a social platform. Our foundation was to build upon a social space that allowed users to see how others were earning points on Fetch. At this stage there was already a beta released, created by a previous designer and team.

What We Know

Our previous research efforts showed that users often struggled with the concept of earning points and how and when they would get the most from their receipts. With this information, we knew that brand acknowledgement was going to play an important role in our social card redesign. We also wanted to share more information based on whether the points they received were through a special offer or our always-1%-back on brands we housed. This information plays a vital role in our redesign. Our CTO also had a heavy interest in this project, we worked closely together and they held the stakeholder relationship.

The Buildup

Knowing that we wanted a more dynamic, interesting social feed, I gathered all of the existing social cards and we began the audit process. I held a workshop with other visual designers as well as the social team, where we looked at what was existing, what we liked and disliked about other social platforms, and where we wanted to go.

Taking Action

Engaging Visual Elements:
Our goal was to foster user engagement through visually appealing elements. The social card now incorporates dynamic visuals and a cohesive color scheme, creating an immersive experience that encourages users to explore and interact with content.

User-Centric Interaction:
Understanding the importance of user interaction, we implemented intuitive touch gestures for liking directly from the social card. This seamless interaction design streamlines user engagement, providing a more enjoyable and efficient experience.

Accessibility and Inclusivity:
The design implementation also focused on accessibility, ensuring that the social card is user-friendly for all. From legible fonts to color contrasts, our approach prioritizes inclusivity, making the social card accessible to a diverse user base.

Performance and Optimization:
Behind the sleek design lies a commitment to performance and optimization. The social card is designed to load swiftly, minimizing user wait times and ensuring a smooth experience even in areas with slower network connections.

Creative

User Testing Validation:
To validate our design choices, we conducted extensive user testing, gathering feedback on usability, visual appeal, and overall satisfaction. Iterative refinements were made based on user input, resulting in a social card that resonates with our community.

Future-Forward Adaptability:
Our design implementation isn't just about the present; it's about building for the future. The social card is designed to adapt seamlessly to evolving trends, ensuring that our users continue to enjoy a cutting-edge and relevant social experience.
