Acting as an outside consultant, I produced a new concept and direction for the IMDb app based on a ui and ux audit.
Conceptual Design
People watch a lot of TV and movies, myself included. IMDb has been around for a long time (first launching in 1990!). They are one of the biggest TV and movie databases, where users can rate and review titles. Rotten Tomatoes is IMDb’s biggest competitor.
What We Know
I love documentation, I can get pretty nerdy about it. So when friends tell me about movies to check out, I don’t want to forget, I want to document it. I can also be forgetful about what I’ve watched, why not document it? This began my IMDb exploration as I was checking out their app.
The Buildup
I analyzed user reviews to understand current pain points and user expectations. Key findings include:
